REGULATIONS FOR DOT PHYSICALS
When you think about chiropractic care, most people don’t think about an interstate DOT exam. At our Redding clinic, we provide complete physical exams that are DOT approved whether you need one to drive within the state, or you need an approved physical to drive across state lines.
Medical Certificate Requirements for California Interstate Drivers
All drivers who provide services over state lines need to meet the federal requirements for interstate drivers to obtain a medical certificate. This includes drivers who drive for commerce, those that drive vehicles with more than fifteen passengers, and vehicles that meet specific weight requirements. To obtain a medical certificate in Redding, Anderson, Bella Vista, Centerville, Happy Valley, Cottonwood, Red Bluff, Palo Cedro, Weed, Yreka, and Shasta County, Churn Creek Chiropractic can provide you with a CDL DOT Exam for Interstate or Intrastate regulations.
Interstate drivers must pass hearing and vision tests, with or without corrective lenses. Medications that may impair one’s ability to drive will prevent an interstate driver from obtaining a medical certificate. This includes certain pain killers, opiates, and legally prescribed medical marijuana.
Drivers who require insulin to control diabetes mellitus can be qualified for a medical certificate. Extra forms from a medical doctor may be required .
For more information on the federal DOT exam requirement, visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin’s website.
The State of California has the same set of requirements for medical certification of commercial drivers as the federal government.
